Serendipity

Yesterday, I did something I’ve been wanting to do since last year. I did something that a lot of people have been asking me to do.

I joined Superstar!

It was so last minute for me, actually. Met Claire online on Friday night [11 plus], and she indicated that she was joining Superstar, and was seeking friends to accompany her. I half-jokingly said I wanted to join as well, and she urged me to go ahead. In the end, she helped me to print the application form and consent form, and I manage to dig out one 3R full-length photograph. And also one passport size photograph.

Couldn’t sleep the whole night, in the end, I slept at 4am, after tentatively deciding on the song I wanted to sing [Zhang Hui Mei's Zhen Shi]. Albeit knowing that a lot of people would be singing this song, I still went along with it. Di and Sam had been suggesting that I sing Stefanie Sun’s songs, but I thought the judges would think I’m only trying to mimick her style of singing. Hmm, so I didn’t choose SYZ’s songs.

I woke up at 6.22am next morning, after Claire’s wake-up call. Quickly dressed up and rushed down via cab to Toa Payoh HDB Hub. Well, at least the cab fare doesn’t include $2 surcharge or midnight charge. Exciting start, disappointing finish.

Found the queue at Toa Payoh Shopping Centre [quite long!], and cut-queue to join Claire, and 2 new friends. =X Hehe. By the time the queue started moving, to fill the empty spaces, it was already 8.30am. The registration was supposed to start at 9am, but in the end, I waited till after noon before we queued for the registration. -.-"

My number was 3296 and my new friend’s number was 3299 [which came out in 4D on Saturday!!].

Queue here, queue there, queue everywhere. LOL. Finally, the crew people led us [in batches], to HDB Hub. I almost died of hunger when it was my turn to sing, at 2pm! *stomach growls*

Such a disappointment though, since I waited 7 hours for my turn, but in the end, the judges only let me sing less than 30 seconds, and buzz me out. You’re supposed to go in, stand at the cross mark on the floor, say your name, age, reference number, and the title of the song you are singing. I started with the first stenza, and within 3 seconds, they told me to sing the chorus. And I blank out for a while, while trying to recollect the chorus. I sang less than 10 words?

Never even telling me what went wrong. Claire was very pissed as well. It’s like they just want to get everything over and done with. AFTER they’re back from their lunch? There was this guy [think maybe he's a Floor Manager?], who was commenting to the crew people that the latter ate so late! But he sympathise with the contestants, who didn’t eat anything from 6 plus in the morning! [The first girl waited from 9pm on Friday!]

I’m waiting for the show to come out, and when it does, let’s see what kind of quality the judges picked. I’ll die laughing if they let some girls who can’t sing go through. And oh, there were 3 auditioning rooms.

I got interviewed though.

Some guys can be so insensitive, and such fucking retards. I can only say, that they only think of everything as a joke. I never speak of the competition to him, and merely said hi to him on MSN, in the end he ask me not to boast if I never got through. When I said I didn’t, he laughed, and then said his friend did. I don’t see what’s the big deal about going through the first round. Nor is it a big deal to sing in front of 4 judges [who are aunties, as per Claire's blog, LOL] and a crew?

I sang in front of 800 people on the day of my 21st birthday. So there.
