8 different hairstyles

July 21st, 2007 by elisetan

Got to know this meme from Kennysia.com, to post 8 photos of yourself with 8 different hairstyles.

Well, though I belong to the female species, I seldom change my hairstyles. If you know me for more than a decade, chances are, you’ve never sported me in short hair [except in secondary school years. My face doesn’t suit short and spiky hairstyles, though I yearn to do so.

I believe I’ve never told anyone about my ’secret wish’, except him. If I were slim one day, I’d do an album of myself, nude. I’ll also cut my hair short, standing on ends.

It’s seldom that I feel damn good about myself. So here you go, my collage of photos, in compliance with the meme. :)

8hairstyles

I’m sexxxxy! :p The tattoo is photoshopped on, though I’m tempted to do a real one. =x

And in case you’re wondering, I was trying out some eye-mask for the top left photo, and it just so happened that my hair was in 2 cute, chun-li buns.

Invisibility

July 21st, 2007 by elisetan

Being the rather observant person I am, I’m usually the one who spots friends and greets them first, or I’m the one who spots my friends’ friends before they themselves do.

Speaking of which, most of the time I see acquaintances, and since they don’t seem to recognise or see me, I don’t bother to go out of my way to tap their shoulders or wave hello. Exception is when I see my buddies on the streets, to which I’ll do whatever possible to catch their attention, DISCREETLY.

Usually I’d try to catch their attention and break a smile at them, and if they don’t see me, I’d just move on.

These few weeks, I’ve been bumping into his friends quite a lot. While it may be awkward, I’d still look at them, and should they look back, I’d still smile in acknowledgement.

But no, they don’t seem to recognise me nor see me, given the benefit of the doubt. And thereafter, when I bump into the same people, I don’t even bother to try to smile at them, knowing they won’t be able to see me, somehow.

Today, it happened again. The friend happens to live near my buddy, QW, and took the same 502 bus [after my NDP performance]. I kept looking at his direction, and he doesn’t seem to recognise me, so I just found a seat and sat down. Granted, I never really spoke to that friend before, so it doesn’t really matter.

But I’m just ‘perturbed‘ by this sudden leash of invisibility. :)

Mr Fireworks made me cry again. And somehow, even though they are short-lived, they seem to be pretty much the same old stuff. Boredom. :p

NDP 2007 Theme Song

July 6th, 2007 by elisetan

Ndp_2007
There’s No Place I’d Rather Be [click to listen]
Music & Lyrics: Jimmy Ye

I’ve walked the streets of Cairo and Bombay
I’ve seen the neon signs on old Broadway
I’ve climbed the Eiffel Tower,
The Great Wall in one hour,
Experienced sweet and sour but that’s okay.

Seen Hollywood, the sunsets in LA.
The London Bridge, Big Ben, the Thames, UK
I’ve crossed the River Kwai
Yet still I don’t know why
I think of you each night and every day.

There’s no place I’d rather be
You’ll always be a part of me
And even though I’ve roamed the world
It’s still my home I long to see.

This is where my family
And my friends grew up with me
So I’ll cross the skies and sail the seas
To be where I wanna be.

Cos there’s no place I’d rather be!

Nice song, and the tune’s similar to another theme song of the previous years. But I think this year’s song is quite hard to catch!! -.-"

Hot Babe

May 10th, 2007 by elisetan

I’m a hot babe, literally. Had a viral attack, and my body temperature shot up to 40 degrees yesterday [highest record]. Felt absolutely groggy, and had dizzy spells so bad, it felt like the tremors of an earthquake.

So my mum sort of saved my life, when she checked on me last night, and found that my body was very warm, and we rushed to the nearest 24-hour clinic [West Point Hospital, 235 Corporation Drive] at around 10.30pm.

When I was there, the doctor attended to me in a matter of minutes. A check of my body temperature led the doctor to say, "WOW… 40 degrees celcius."

I raised my eyebrows, and he went on to say that the brain starts to fry at 40 degrees, and some talk about some enzymes, which I can’t remember.

Then he asked, "How good are you with needles?" I raised my eyebrows again, and said, "errr, shouldn’t be a problem." He said that accordingly to medical practice, they have to resort to a more drastic measure to bring the temperature down, else my brain would be burnt or something.

"The nurses outside would help you to jab, don’t worry, they are more gentle than me."

-.-"

I’m not afraid of needles, but the nurse asked me to look away when I had my jab. The doctor initially gave me one day off, after asking whether my boss can do without me for one day.

Later he gave me two days’ off. Felt very groggy for the entire day. Haha. Can’t really get to sleep though I am very tired and sleepy.

Later I realised that 4 people [out of 11] who attended the KTV session, all fell sick, with fever and sore-throat.

Buddy [Meifang] got 2 days’ MC for her fever and sore throat as well. And Cindy told me that she’s also sick [but this girl ain't seeing the doctor yet. -.-"] and Dave’s also sick. O_O

KTV Virus? Hmm. My dear colleague said I’m selfish, cos never come back to work to spread the virus so that she can take MC as well. WTF! -.-"

I think I’m still OK, and still have another day to rest! Hehe, I hate headaches the most. But luckily I’m not having that as yet.

Oh yah, hope I recover by Friday, else I’d have to go back to the clinic to do a blood test, to check for dengue fever. O_O

Why is everyone sick??!

Phantom of the Opera

May 5th, 2007 by elisetan

Phantom_opera

Paid $147 [inclusive of $2 SISTIC surcharge] for the Broadway show, Phantom of the Opera. It was the most expensive tickets I’ve paid, for any show at all, I’m surprised I would spend so much money on some visual experience, but it was worth every cent of it.

Got to sit at the first row at the Esplanade Theatre [went with my CPF ex-colleague, Hwee Peng], the row which many people would come forward to, during the interval, to take a look at the musicians right below our feet. :p

It was quite a cool thing, that the conductor was the only linkage between the musicians and the performers.

Phantom_of_opera_before_show_starts

Photography wasn’t allowed in the theatre because of Intellectual Property Copyright, but still, I took this photo of the theatre before everything began. The cloth was covering the giant chandelier, which was supposed to be lifted up [right above our heads!] to the top of the theatre hall.

Phantom_of_opera_chandelier_yet_again

The photo above is the chandelier, after being pulled up to the top of the ceiling.

I’m still thinking of whether to buy that musical box at $28, which plays Angel of Music [I think] or Music of the Night. But it’s not the wound-up type of musical box, it is those type where you would need to manually ‘wind’ it continuously for the sounds to be played. :D

The main reason of why I went for the show, was because I loved the songs we sang in Choir almost a decade ago [OMFG, I didn't know I graduated so long ago!]. When the songs were being sung, it felt so nice, so warmth, it was as though I was transported back to my Choir days. Missed them so much. :/

Love the lake scene, where Christine was being brought to the dungeons of the Phantom. It was kind of sad, in a way, to know that Phantom liked Christine so much, and when the latter kissed the former, he was so stunned, and in the end he let her and Raoul go. P/S: The guy playing Raoul is so cute!! :p

People, you have till 20th May to catch this show in Singapore. :)

Neopets

March 3rd, 2007 by elisetan

Neopets_money_tree

This was the game I’ve last played back in year 2001, I think. And playing it now gives me fond memories of the past, while I was still schooling, in SP.

The other time I heard my buddy, MF talking about playing Neopets once again, my immediate response was like, "Why are you playing Neopets again!? Not tired of it??"

Fact is, during that time before Neopets was vastly popular, my poly friend already started playing. I was skeptical of her being so addicted in Neopets. Back then I was seriously wondering how anyone couldn’t get tired of the game.

And when I kept a blog back in 2001 [and have changed several URLs ever since], detractors were flaming me when they found my blog address. Friends were showing me looks of bewilderment and disgust why I would bare my soul [as if] to the whole world [as if]!

BUT!! Few months later, they started their own blogs!!! -.-"

Just because I’m one of the peeps in the first batch, people scorn me as such. I guess that can’t be helped, people would only understand if they are in the same situation. Haha… Just a random thought, I guess.

*****

On another note, I’m taking part in this year’s NDP! :p For a 3 minute’s performance, we’ve at least 25 rehearsals! But let’s hope it’ll all be fun, since I’ve never taken part in the NDP before. Hehe.

Hoping Dar could join as well.. :/

It’ll be fun. Can get to know more friends! :)

Coincidence

February 28th, 2007 by elisetan

The world is damn small, sometimes I feel damn excited when I get to know that my frd’s frd is actually my friend!

And there are like about 6 coincidences involving Dar and me. We both know these 6 people, and we didn’t realised it until we somehow bump into them together! :p

I am especially jubilant when I knew that somehow, these coincidences happen. Just like today, I found out that the Data Analyst who left my current workplace, has joined Microsoft [my previous workplace], though at a different branch.

Initially I applied for the Data Analyst role, but was shortlisted for the claims validator post instead.

And it so happened that Jerry, the ex-Data Analyst, is the guy I knew from WLNY! We even went together for a KTV session, and he nicknamed me ‘Zhang Hui Mei’! How coincidental!! Haha!

And I realised my secondary school friend is my present colleague’s friend!! O_O

Birthday Celebration @ Settlers

February 8th, 2007 by elisetan

Jemxy1

This is gonna be a short update. Posting just to share the photos we took using my N73’s camera at Settlers earlier on. We went to the Board Games Cafe to have our dinner as well as played games.

Although there were some glitches here and there, I think everyone enjoyed themselves pretty much. :p

We have known one another for 12 years! I still remember when we were in Secondary One, our form teacher asked the Muslim students in the class whether they would mind if the class puts up cartoon pictures of cute pigs. It was the year of the Pig.

And now we’re going into another Pig’s year. And soon, we would meet the year of the Dog. The horrors! I cannot imagine how life would be as a 36-year-old. O_O

May the friendship amongst us be everlasting. :)

Friendship with the girls

January 28th, 2007 by elisetan

Seriously, I wish I was born a guy. Or rather, maybe it was easier to keep in contact with guys.

Somehow or rather, when guys meet up with guys, there is a higher probability of getting it done, rather than amongst girls.

Girls always have their other halves to meet up with. Girls have their families to attend to, when they are married. Sometimes it gets so disappointing, if you organise often.

Dar’s friends meet up every now and then, some of them female, some of them male. There are some friends I wish I could meet up with, like what, once in 2 years?! And yet it’s so hard to meet up with them.

Compromise. Time can always be scheduled. Certainly, for those with prior birthday meetings, family outings, work commitments, studies, those take priority. But can’t you give up a Saturday with your other halves for your friends whom you haven’t met for 2 years?! Sigh.

That’s why I always think it’s easier for the busiest people to plan gatherings, since the free ones would be easiest to agree to any dates.
